Thatcham Category Changes Explained
Thatcham Category S5
Thatcham Category S5 is the new classification for vehicle trackers that previously were considered Category 5. Insurance companies mandate a Category S5 vehicle tracking system be fitted for vehicles over a certain value. (Previously Category 5)
Tracking systems under this category offer the most security features, ensuring the security of your vehicle. Remote immobilisation is no longer mandatory for the S5 classification.
Driver tags (or automatic driver recognition) are mandatory for this classification.
What is Automatic Driver Recognition?
Automatic driver recognition (ADR) is a feature on premium tracking products that identifies approved drivers. These identifiers are usually small tags the driver keeps on their person.
If your vehicle is moved without a Driver identification tag present, an alert will be sent to you directly.
