To reduce vehicle crime, Thatcham introduced the Vehicle Security Assessment (NVSA) as well as a category system for vehicle alarms, immobilisers, and trackers. Each one of our products is meticulously tested to strict criteria established by Thatcham Research. The rigorous testing procedure is made to instil confidence in users that the product meets market standards.

Tracker products are monitored and periodically reviewed throughout the certification to ensure that performance levels are retained.

Thatcham Category Explained

From 1st January 2019, all Thatcham Research security product assessments are conducted under a new ‘Thatcham Security Certifications’ brand, an overarching service.

Thatcham Category S5

Thatcham Category S5 is the new classification for vehicle trackers that previously were considered Category 5. Insurance companies mandate a Category S5 vehicle tracking system be fitted for vehicles over a certain value.  (Previously Category 5)

Tracking systems under this category offer the most security features, ensuring the security of your vehicle. Remote immobilisation is no longer mandatory for the S5 classification.

Driver tags (or automatic driver recognition) are mandatory for this classification.

 

What is Automatic Driver Recognition?

Automatic driver recognition (ADR) is a feature on premium tracking products that identifies approved drivers. These identifiers are usually small tags the driver keeps on their person. If your vehicle is moved without a Driver Identification tag present, an alert will be sent to you directly.

Tracker has its own S5 product (S5 Plus), offering premium security and peace of mind.

Thatcham Category S7

Thatcham category S7 is the new classification for vehicle trackers that were previously considered Category 7 or Category 6.

Category S7 vehicle trackers offer a range of features from a simple track and locate to products with additional value-added features for extra protection of your vehicle.
