Tracker and Curran Connolly partnership protects young drivers

A recent hijacking incident has highlighted the value of Tracker technology for telematics policyholders through Belfast insurance broker, Curran Connolly. As local press in Ireland reported, a car insured through Curran Connolly was hijacked but quickly located after the Tracker device was used successfully to help in this unusual situation.

Tracker, the stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert, provides Curran Connolly policyholders with telematics and tracking technology to encourage safer driving. In this case, the device led the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) directly to the property where the stolen car was located, and three arrests were made.  Crucially, this all happened on the very same day the car was taken.

Peter Connolly of Curran Connolly commented: “We have been serving businesses and individuals in Northern Ireland for over 40 years and pride ourselves on going the extra mile to meet our customers’ needs. It is, therefore, imperative that we work with only the best and most reliable partners in the market, who share our aspirations and help us to deliver the highest possible level of service.

“Our telematics insurance policy is one of our most popular products, especially among young drivers looking to reduce their premiums. We have built what we believe is one of the best policies in the market in terms of price and benefits, and the partnership with Tracker which draws upon its market leading telematics and tracking technology, is a fundamental part of our offering. We always promote the benefits of the Tracker technology to our customers in terms of lowering premiums and encouraging safer driving habits, but now we have first-hand experience of the valuable difference the Tracker technology can make in unusual and unexpected circumstances such as these.”

Mark Rose, Managing Director of Tracker added: “We work closely with many insurance providers and brokers in the industry who take on our Young Driver Insurance Service because it is invaluable in promoting the safety of young drivers. More young people are recognising the benefits of such technology, both to their safety and the positive impact it may have on their insurance premiums, so we will continue to work alongside the industry to help customers reap the rewards.

“In this case we were able to go one step further by using our technology to help Curran Connolly and the local police to locate the criminals, make three arrests and return the stolen vehicle to its owner in a matter of hours. While hijacking is extremely rare, vehicle theft is a real risk and could have a significant financial impact on a young driver and their future premiums if the vehicle was unable to be recovered. By working closely together with the insurance industry in this way, we are able to deliver strong results which benefit both insurance providers and their customers.”
