Tracker announces it is a lead sponsor of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators’ (IAATI) International Vehicle Crime Conference to be held in Glasgow this month.

Management at Tracker are active and respected members of IAATI, and the business - which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year - has a long-established relationship with the police.  As the only SVR provider offering vehicle tracking systems that are supported nationwide by UK police forces, Tracker has a formal day-to-day working and information sharing arrangement with the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS).  By sponsoring this year’s conference, it is further reinforcing its ongoing support and commitment to fighting vehicle crime.

Tracker figures report that the number of cars stolen without using the owner’s keys has increased from 26% to 88% in the last ten years alone, with the recent advancement of relay attack by criminals particularly driving vehicle theft. The 2019 training and educational conference ‘Vehicle Crime and the Cyber Future’ will look at the evolving nature of this and other vehicle crime.

In addition to a significant increase in the threat of keyless car theft and relay attacks on prestige marques, Tracker recognises a new ‘industry’ specialising in dismantling lower end stolen cars in hidden ‘chop shops’ and then selling parts via the web nationally and overseas.

As well as seminars on crime trends at the IAATI conference, key players from law enforcement, the insurance and motor manufacturer industries, plant, agricultural, haulage, leisure, salvage and IT fields will come together to discuss  topics from vehicle insurance and finance fraud to aftermarket security issues and solutions.

Comments Clive Wain, Head of Police Liaison at Tracker; “Every month we continue to recover on average a million pounds worth of stolen vehicles.  As the conference will highlight, these vehicles were stolen with ever increasingly stolen to order with a high level of sophistication by organised criminal enterprise.  By playing our part in sponsoring and supporting the IAATI conference we aim to help bring together industry and law enforcement experts to help keep one step ahead in the fight against vehicle crime.”

The five-day event runs from 15th to 20th September 2019 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central.   Delegates can visit Tracker at stands 9 and 10.
