“It’s a well-known fact that crime rises when economic times are tough, so it’s reassuring to know that companies like TRACKER are continuing to invest in ways to make fleet vans more secure."

TRACKER wins 2013 Van Fleet World Security Award
Date: 21 May 2013
Marking the year TRACKER celebrates 20 years as the leading stolen vehicle recovery expert, the company scoops prestigious Van Fleet World Honour for a consecutive year.
This year’s accolade is for TRACKER Locate with integrated Mesh Detection Network, which wins the Security Award. Presented at a glittering ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club, TRACKER, again proves its commitment to remaining at the forefront of innovations to tackle the growing threat of commercial vehicle theft.
The Fleet World Honours, which includes the Van Fleet World Honours is a highly regarded award in the fleet market and recognises motor manufacturers, service companies and individuals who deliver the highest possible level of excellence to the fleet sector.
Fundamental to TRACKER Locate systems is the ability to detect and overcome GPS ‘jamming’ by incorporating GSM, GPS and VHF technology in one unit. The inclusion of the Mesh Network creates an added defence against vehicle theft by using vehicles already fitted with TRACKER SVR units as listening posts to identify other stolen vehicles fitted with a TRACKER unit.
This revolutionary new element of TRACKER Locate helps enhance the recovery times of all TRACKER fitted stolen vehicles and enables fleet operators, along with all car and van drivers right across the UK, to play an active role in helping to combat vehicle theft through a very simple but highly effective idea inspired by social networking. Since the launch of the Mesh Network in March 2012, over £6,424,400 worth of stolen vehicles have been recovered, providing concrete evidence of the network’s success in fighting vehicle crime.
Van Fleet World Editor, John Kendall, said: “It’s a well-known fact that crime rises when economic times are tough, so it’s reassuring to know that companies like TRACKER are continuing to invest in ways to make fleet vans more secure. Through its TRACKER Locate service, the company has continued to demonstrate its commitment to stay at the forefront of the fight against theft, and to find ways of preventing thieves from successfully stealing vehicles after they have by-passed the security systems fitted by vehicle manufacturers. Two elements of particular note are the ability to overcome GPS jammers, and the facility for vehicles already fitted with TRACKER’s stolen vehicle recovery system to act as “listening posts” for stolen vehicles. Very clever indeed.”
Stephen Doran Managing Director for TRACKER comments, “This is a fantastic win for TRACKER as it is one of the most prestigious awards in the industry and recognises the best in the industry. Last year we won the Technology Award for our TRACKER Fleet solution and this year the Security Award, clearly demonstrating our strength in the telematics market and our ability to develop award winning products. As we enter into our 21st year in business, we will continue to develop our next generation fleet telematics product and this level of industry recognition just goes further to strengthen our position as market leader.”
