TRACKER welcomes new police relationship officer
Date: 01 May 2014
TRACKER, the UK’s leading stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) company, has appointed Andrew Barrs as its new Police Relationship Officer. As the only SVR provider to work with all police forces in the UK, Andrew’s appointment marks TRACKER’s ongoing commitment to the development of its relationship with law enforcement agencies.
Andrew joins TRACKER from his position as Chief Superintendent for South Yorkshire Police, where he was responsible for the operational performance management of citywide policing across Sheffield, including frontline response, criminal investigation and neighbourhood policing. In Andrew’s previous role, as Superintendent (Pan-Sheffield Support), he was responsible for the policing services from a workforce of over 1,400 police officers and staff. He was also a member of the Sheffield City Executive Board, which involved a number of inter-agency projects.
Andrew Barrs says of his new role, “TRACKER has a key partnership with UK police forces, making my experience essential for this role. I will be working with AVCIS (ACPO Vehicle Intelligence Service) to identify vehicle crime offending patterns, with the aim of informing TRACKER product development. It is important that we continue to understand advances in vehicle security technology, particularly in relation to keyless entry systems, allowing TRACKER to stay one step ahead of thieves.
“I will also be working with police vehicle fleet managers to promote the opportunities of TRACKER’s fleet monitoring equipment, helping to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce fleet costs for police forces. This is an exciting opportunity, allowing me to use the skills I’ve gained during my 32 years in the police to bring real benefits to motorists and law enforcement agencies, as part of the TRACKER team.”
David Wilson, Marketing, Sales and Services Director for TRACKER comments, “Andrew has a wealth of police experience and he will play a crucial role in continuing to support TRACKER’s unique relationship with all UK police forces, which use our VHF detection technology in their patrol vehicles. His in-depth knowledge includes six years as a traffic officer, as well as being instrumental in tackling gun crime and gangs in Sheffield. The insight Andrew brings is invaluable and ensures TRACKER’s award winning technology continues to deliver and meet the needs of police forces, helping them close the net on criminals.”
