TRACKER helps police recover stolen tractor for Evesham FC

Date: 06 October 2016

Two John Deere tractors worth £15,000 were stolen in separate incidents from the Evesham Football Club grounds, in Worcestershire. Thanks to a TRACKER, the UK’s leading provider of stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) solutions, West Mercia Police successfully located and recovered the vehicles.

Mr Cockerton, Chairman of Evesham FC discovered that one of the club’s tractors, used to help in the management of the grounds, was missing. This was the second time in three years that this particular vehicle had been stolen, but once again, TRACKER’s award-winning technology closed the net on thieves. With one call, the TRACKER unit was activated and West Mercia Police followed the signal to an abandoned traveller campsite on the outskirts of Tilesford.
Just a few months later, a second tractor was stolen from the club’s grounds, this time it was located in Evesham in just over 13 hours.
Mr Cockerton says, “The fact that we had a TRACKER device fitted made all the difference to its successful recovery, as it played a key role in helping police locate both of our tractors within hours of them being stolen. Had it not been for the TRACKER, we would have had to claim on Evesham FC’s insurance, which would have inevitably resulted in a rise in next year’s premium.  We would have also needed to pay for the hire of a temporary replacements whilst the claim was being sorted, creating further financial strain on the club.  Thankfully, we’ve avoided all these added costs as well as considerable inconvenience.  It’s a great result and I’d recommend TRACKER for any business wanting to protect its assets.”
Adrian Davenport, Police Liaison Manager for TRACKER, “Tractor and plant theft is a huge problem, with high demand in Africa, India and Saudi Arabia making them a hot target for criminals. We typically see tractors like these being transferred into shipping containers at major UK ports, such as Tilbury and Southampton, ready to be sent abroad. If police don’t locate them before they leave the UK, they may never be recovered, leaving businesses and individuals picking up the bill of replacement and increased insurance premiums.

“Fortunately, in the instance of Evesham FC, TRACKER’s SVR solution has helped police recover these tractors, and not just once in the case the first one stolen.  This highlights the value of a TRACKER unit for any vehicle owner. Although our units won’t stop vehicles from being stolen, our close working relationship with the police, combined with our technology, significantly increases the chances of vehicles and assets being quickly found and recovered, stopping thieves in their tracks.”
Unlike other devices, TRACKER’s unique technology can locate stolen vehicles anywhere, even when they are hidden in a garage or shipping container. TRACKER has been reuniting businesses with their fleet vehicles and equipment for over 20 years, and it’s this expertise which makes TRACKER the leader in stolen vehicle recovery. TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle. There is no visible aerial, so the thief won’t even know it’s there.
