A number of car crimes were committed in the North Yorkshire area this week, according to northyorkshire.police.uk.
As such, local police officers have launched an official investigation into the incidents. Plus, they are appealing to residents in the area for any information.
Several cars were broken into or stolen - including a red Honda Civic, which was taken from a driveway in Bracken Hill Close at Brayton on Monday. A gold/green Mitsubishi Pajero 4x4 vehicle was also broken into by offenders whilst parked outside a house on Garden Court, directly off of Flaxley Road in Selby.
An attempt was made to steal the Mitsubishi model, however this was unsuccessful.
Talking about the incidents, PC Dave White, beat manager for the Selby Town Safer Neighbourhood Team, told selbyonline.co.uk: "Officers are conducting enquiries about each of these incidents and are appealing for witnesses or any information that could help to locate the offenders."
He added: "Reports of any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area would also be very helpful." Anyone who has any information has been asked to called North Yorkshire Police directly and ask for the name of the police officer assigned to the specific incident.
Those who haven't been affected by the crimes but who are feeling worried about the safety of their own cars may wish to contact the police for advice. They could also consider investing in a vehicle tracking advice, which, if the car was to be stolen, would help police discover its whereabouts quickly.
A black Suzuki Liano GL five-door saloon and a silver Peugeot 306 four-door saloon from the area were also broken into in the same week, reports confirmed.
