Anyone who purchased a Porsche 911 back in 2004 has possibly made the best classic car investment possible, as over ten years its value has increased by 669 per cent, research from the Discovery Channel claims.
A decade ago, the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 sold for around £65,000, but now the same car fetches a whopping £500,000. Perhaps unsurprisingly, a few of James Bond's favourite models have proven to be good investments too; the Aston Martin DB5 and DB6 have risen in value by 500 and 478 per cent respectively over the same period, reports rac.co.uk.
Owners of Series I Land Rovers will also be pleased to know their values have shot up over the period too. Ten years ago the cars sold for just £6,000, but now they are worth £20,000. The Discovery Channel's list of 20 of the most valuable and sought-after classic cars was created for the show 'Wheeler Dealers', as it was trying to decide which model to feature in its 100th episode.
Not all the cars in the list made a profit over the ten year period though, as the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow has actually dropped in value, from £12,000 to £8,000, carsite.co.uk reports.
A Discovery Channel spokesperson commented: "From the much coveted Aston Martin DB5 to the humble Fiat 500, classic car owners across the UK are sitting on a small fortune, thanks to the boom in the vintage car market over the last decade."
