The Nissan Qashqai, which only launched this year, has been crowned the Overall Winner at the 2014 Tow Car Awards.
According to nissaninsider.co.uk, some 56 tow cars were tested by experts from What Car?, Practical Caravan and the Camping and Caravanning Club. The Qashqai came top thanks to its smooth braking, overall performance, stability and hill-start ability. Moreover, the judges said it is a car suitable for all sorts of situations and the fact it comes with a 430-litre boot is hugely beneficial.
David Motton, tow car editor at Practical Caravan, says the car has already earned the title of 2014 Car of the Year from What Car? magazine.
"It didn't take long behind the wheel to discover that the Qashqai has what it takes as a tow car, too," he explains. "There was strong competition for the top prize this year, but the Qashqai's towing ability, practicality and build quality make it the stand-out tow car champion of 2014."
The Qashqai also came top in the 1,400kg-1,549kg kerbweight category, while the Renault Captur nabbed first place in the Best Ultralight Tow Car category, reports caravantimes.co.uk.
Land Rover performed well too, earning two awards in the Money No Object and 1,900kg+ categories. This means the manufacturer has received seven tow car awards in eight years.
