The Apple iCar could be coming soon, according to huffingtonpost.co.uk. Apple are rumoured to have registered patents that could replace a standard car key.
The device could be used to unlock the car, start the engine and even be used as a parking locator, with the smartphone effectively replacing the keys for a car.
On top of that, Volkswagen has unveiled the iBeetle. The car contains integration with the Apple iPhone that includes a docking station designed to control the navigation and audio systems inside the vehicle, according to fortune.cnn.com.
Volkswagen is also releasing an app that supercharges what the iPhone is able to do inside the car and the design is said to match that of the iPhone. The colours it's available in are thought to be grey, black and white, with a convertible version also expected.
The new patents registered by Apple could be the next step, eventually being coupled with an iCar for a complete Apple design. Customers thinking of purchasing a car with such high-end technology inside may be wise to invest in a car tracker to ensure the security of the vehicle.
One of the patents is thought to be able to allow the smartphone to set security settings, as well as restrict use to certain times.
