West Yorkshire police quickly recover stolen caravan
Date: 02 July 2013
West Yorkshire Police with assistance from West Yorkshire Air Support Unit (Helicopter) and TRACKER’s Mesh Network were able to quickly track down the caravan in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire and return it to its owner thanks to the Battery Powered TRACKER Retrieve unit fitted.
Stuart Chapman, Police Liaison Officer for TRACKER says, “As we head towards the holiday season the last thing you need is your caravan stolen. Our unique relationship with the police, combined with the fact that all 2013 Swift caravans are fitted with Battery Powered TRACKER Retrieve, resulted in the successful recovery of Mr Smith’s caravan within an hour.
Swift Group Commercial Director, Nick Page commented, “We are always looking for key features that set our products apart and the TRACKER Retrieve system is an important addition to give our customers peace of mind. Ultimately, as it becomes a recognised feature, we hope it will deter thieves from stealing a Swift Group product.
TRACKER’s Mesh Network creates an added defence against caravan theft by using other vehicles already fitted with a SVR unit to identify stolen ‘vans, therefore creating its very own social network. When a vehicle fitted with a TRACKER unit passes any TRACKER SVR equipped caravan that has been reported stolen, it automatically sends a signal to TRACKER providing the location of the stolen asset.
