TRACKER helps police recover stolen Range Rover Sport
Date: 07 August 2015
TRACKER (part of the Tantalum Corporation), the leading stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) provider, has played a key role in helping Merseyside Police recover a stolen Range Rover Sport worth £30,000. Neil Johnstone was watching TV when thieves entered his home and stole his car keys. Luckily the vehicle was fitted with a TRACKER so police were able to track the vehicle down and return it.
Neil Johnstone, who owns an electronic cable manufacturing business based in Wigan, Manchester, said, “I thought that my car would be safe as it was parked on my driveway right outside my house. Luckily the police were able to track down my Range Rover and return it to me with some minor damages, but things could have been much worse. I would highly recommend a tracking device to friends and family, so much so that I have since had one fitted to my wife’s car. If it had been her vehicle stolen and not mine, I seriously doubt we’d have had such success in recovering it.”
Steve Houghton, Police Liaison Manager at TRACKER, explains how TRACKER were able to recover the vehicle. “Our close working relationship with the UK police forces means we are able to close the net on thieves who target high value vehicles and, as in Mr Johnstone’s case, this can happen very quickly. Our unique combination of GSM, VHF and GPS technology means we can help police locate vehicles, even if they are hidden underground, in a garage or a shipping container.
“Mr Johnstone is very lucky that he installed a tracking device on his Range Rover. Though a device may not stop your vehicle being stolen in the first instance, it does increase the chances of police recovering and returning the vehicle to its owner. TRACKER’s technology offers car owners a greater level of protection than any of its competitors and helps police tackle car theft head on.”
