Stolen Rolls Royce Worth £110,000 Recovered In Under Two Hours

Date: 04 October 2017

A Midlands businessman had a nasty surprise when he discovered that his Rolls Royce Phantom had been stolen while he was cutting the grass in his back garden. Thieves broke into his Warwickshire home and stole the keys for the car worth £110,000, before driving away with it. Fortunately, TRACKER’s award-winning stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) technology led police straight to the Rolls Royce and it was found in less than two hours.

The customer says, “I thought my car was gone for good. I can’t believe the thieves were bold enough to break in, in broad daylight.  Thankfully, it was discovered at a supermarket car park in Leicester in less than two hours, which is a great result and demonstrates the importance of TRACKER’s unique relationship with police forces across the UK.”

Whilst the most expensive car recovered by TRACKER in 2016 was a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG worth £120,000, the reality is that less than 1% of stolen vehicles it recovers are worth between £75,000 and £120,000. Indeed, a whopping 32% of all stolen vehicles it recovered in 2016 were valued at less than £5,000, suggesting  that the age, mileage and even brand of a vehicle doesn’t matter to vehicle thieves as much as motorists may think, and should serve as a stark warning to the average car owner.

Andy Barrs, Head of Police Liaison at TRACKER, comments, “Luckily, this high value vehicle had been fitted with a TRACKER unit and once police were aware of the theft, the device was activated.  This case highlights the significance of having a tracking device fitted to your vehicle, as it can spell the difference between it being returned to you  or thieves getting away with it and making a fast profit.  An SVR unit won’t stop your car being stolen, but it can significantly increase the chances of police finding it if thieves do take it.”

Unlike other devices, TRACKER’s unique technology can locate stolen vehicles anywhere, even when they are hidden in a garage or shipping container. TRACKER has been reuniting car lovers with their vehicles for nearly 25 years, and it’s this expertise which makes it the leader in stolen vehicle recovery. TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle. There is no visible aerial, so the thief won’t even know it’s there.
