Farmers in Cheltenham have been reminded to ensure their agricultural equipment is adequately protected after the theft of expensive machinery at a farm in Guiting.
Wiltsglossstandard.co.uk says a 19-year-old man was arrested following the disappearance of a New Holland agricultural baler and a blue New Holland tractor on the evening of Friday, November 22.
Local officers believe the man, who has no fixed abode, moved in to steal the machinery between 6:00pm and 10:20pm.
A Peugeot car was spotted leading a convoy of a tractor, baler and transit van at 10:25pm near the Cotswold town of Winchcombe
This information resulted in the recovery of a tractor at around 12:20am on Saturday, November 23, although the whereabouts of the baler has not yet been traced.
Theft of agricultural machinery has become a much talked about topic in the farming community this year, with the latest incident reminding farmers about the presence of thieves and the importance of protecting their assets.
The suspect has been charged with burglary and will appear in court at a later date.
In the meantime, gloucestershire-news.co.uk says police officers are appealing for information on the stolen baler and have offered complete anonymity to anyone handing over information regarding its location.
