The used car that Londoners lust after the most is the MINI Cooper hatchback (plate 62), Auto Trader has revealed.
'Desired cars' are ones which are high in demand but low in supply, so they can be turned over by dealers quickly. Auto Trader has compiled a list of the most desirable cars by region, using an advanced algorithm which analyses average market speeds of sale, availability, consumer demand and stock volumes, reports am-online.com.
Cars are then given a rating from one to five; the higher the rating, the more desirable the car. The MINI proved popular in several regions including the South West and the East of England, the latter of which favoured the MINI One over the Cooper.
Range Rover models also ranked top in three regions. The Sport 3.0 SDV6 HSE (plate 63) was the most sought-after model in Yorkshire whereas the 5.0 Autobiography (plate 12) came first in the South East. Drivers in the North West also love the Sport 3.0 but prefer the plate 14 model, rac.co.uk notes.
Tim Marriott, Auto Trader trade solutions director, noted that this is the first time Auto Trader has released such a list, and that the results have proved rather interesting.
"But while interesting, we should also be clear that this is just a snapshot of the current market," he said. "Desirability scores for more than half of the models on sale change month-by-month, so dealers can't afford to stand still."
